Emily Liu is a rising junior at Richard Montgomery High School. She is passionate about making a difference in the lives of others. With a strong dedication to community service, Emily enjoys fundraising for the Children's Neurology Foundation in her free time, where she channels her energy into supporting children with neurological conditions. She loves to teach dance to children with special needs, and is a dance officer for SEEDS and volunteers her time to share her love of dance with others. She is also president of her school’s HOSA chapter, where she leads initiatives to promote health education and career opportunities in the medical field. In her free time, she is a dancer, and loves to go kayaking with her friends.
Ethan Mao is a 11th-grader attending Winston Churchill High School. Through various extracurriculars, he discovered his interest in journalism and politics. He competes in Public Forum debate and participates in essay competitions regarding politics and law, such as the Columbia Undergraduate Law Review and John Locke essay competitions. These activities helped him gain experience in journalism and politics. Learning from experts in the field, he's inspired to look for opportunities in journalism to make an impact. This inspiration aligns with his passion for spreading awareness of AAPI issues as a member of the leadership team for the Asian American Progressive Student Union.
Hanna Zheng is a student at Archbishop Spalding High School in the Class of 2025. As one of the few Asian American students on campus, she always strives to advocate and lead in her school community. Hanna is passionate about her volunteer work for different non-profit organizations. She has worked with the Shady Grove Adventist Hospital, Meals on Wheels of Central Maryland, and other similar organizations to help serve her community. Outside of school and work, Hanna enjoys playing tennis with friends and learning new pieces on the piano.
Hansen Zhang is an eighth grader currently residing in Clarksville, Maryland. He has always had a keen interest in politics and journalism and understands the importance of having voters informed and knowledgeable on issues. Furthermore, he believes that news should be delivered in an unbiased manner, with factual accuracy as the highest priority. In his leisure time, Hansen enjoys traveling the world, learning new information, and playing baseball.
John Gao is an eighth grader who lives in Clarksville, Maryland. He has been interested in politics since elementary school. He perceives politics as profoundly significant yet often overlooked by many. John emphasizes the importance of disseminating accurate information about political candidates, recognizing the substantial impact politicians have on everyday life. In his spare time, John likes to read the news and play table tennis.
Katherine Zheng is a junior at Mt Hebron High School. She is passionate about civic engagement and public policy. She has previously interned at the Maryland State House and the Food and Drug Administration. At school, she is involved in clubs such as Future Business Leaders of America and Science Olympiad. She is the vice president of CAPA Cares and media manager of Clarksville Youth Care Group, two non-profit organizations. In her free time, she enjoys learning guitar and playing with her dog.
