Register Now: Asian Americans Celebrating America 250 for the Next Century
On Saturday, March 28, from 3:00 to 7:00 PM, Maryland Humanities — the state’s official humanities council — and the Yuan Foundation will co-host “Asian Americans Celebrating America 250 for the Next Century” at the Greencourt Innovation Center in Rockville, Maryland.
Open to the public, the event will serve as both a community forum and celebration marking the America 250 commemoration, highlighting Asian American civic engagement, leadership, and cultural contributions across Maryland.
Leaders Across Sectors and Next Generation to Join the Conversation
The program will have panels featuring leaders in public service, education, community engagement, business, and culture from across the state, alongside youth representatives presenting their relevant projects and experiences.
They will come together to reflect on the present and future of Asian American leadership in Maryland. The discussion will explore themes such as civic responsibility, leadership pathways, entrepreneurship, innovation, and the evolving role of Asian Americans in strengthening economy and communities at large in the state.

A Community-Centered America 250 Gathering
The event is part of broader America 250 commemorations taking place across Maryland and reflects the kind of grassroots, community-centered engagement envisioned throughout the anniversary year.
Stephany Yu, Founder of Yuan Foundation said, “ We’re proud to be part of this important America 250 commemoration alongside Maryland Humanities. At Yuan Foundation, we are deeply committed to fostering the next generation of Asian American leaders, and this event creates a meaningful opportunity to connect young people with leaders across sectors for inspiration, dialogue, and shared learning about the future of the United States of America.”
Soo Koo, a member of the Maryland Humanities Board of Directors and chair-elect — and the board’s only Asian American member — shared:
“America 250 is not only a moment of commemoration, but also an opportunity to reflect on our shared values and imagine the kind of society we want to build together — a vision that Maryland Humanities and Yuan Foundation are proud to advance together. Maryland represents the diversity and civic spirit of the nation, and we hope this gathering will celebrate the contributions of Asian Americans while bringing people together in a meaningful and joyful way.”
Performances, Community and Cultural Booths, and Networking
Additionally, the event will feature live performances along with community booths. Organizations that are interested in presenting traditional attire, cultural crafts, nonprofit work, and local initiatives at the event may reach out to videocreator3850@gmail.com for coordination. Attendees — students, youth, parents, educators, community and business leaders and any Marylanders — will have opportunities to connect and celebrate together in an engaging and welcoming environment.
Organizers encourage business casual or traditional attire, and families are welcome.
